5 Grade Technical Schedules for the Main Agreement
5 Grade Technical
Schedules of the Main Agreement Handbook
Agreement was reached in 1996 on the voluntary introduction of a five-grade job and wage structure at company level. The primary objective of the five-grade structure is to move from the current individual task descriptions to one which defines an employee’s area and scope of work in terms of competently held skills.
Important aspects of the five-grade job and wage structure include:
- expanded skill definitions for the new structure to achieve multi-skilling;
- the adoption of the new system is on a voluntary basis; and
- a new wage structure linked to the five-grade system.
An essential precursor to the introduction of the grading system at company level was the re-classification of the current Main Agreement individual job descriptions into five skill levels. This process was finalised during late 1997 and this handbook contains the job content and skill classification of more than 3000 individual job descriptions forming the five-grade job and wage structure of the Main Agreement.
If you are considering whether or not to implement the new grading system SEIFSA has published a handbook incorporating all the technical schedules and job descriptions classified into the new five grade skill levels.
